The Supreme Audit Institution of Pakistan Auditor-General of Pakistan organized a two week training workshop on “Audit of Privatization” from March 13 – 24, 2006 at Lahore, Pakistan for ECOSAI member countries with the collaboration of the Islamic Development Bank Jeddah. The workshop covered the following topics:

• Historical perspective; Government policies and mechanism;
• Objectives of privatization;
• Role of privatization agency;
• Achievement of the objectives of Privatization (fairness, openness and transparency);
• Variation in complexity;
• Scale and volume;
• Post-privatization advantages and disadvantages;
• Stopping financial hemorrhage;
• Regulatory mechanism;
• Audit of sale proceedings;
• Specialized skills;
• Transfer of assets from state to private sector;
  Utilization of sale proceeds.

The officers of the Supreme Audit Institutions of Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkey and Pakistan participated in the workshop.
